Obituary for Gordon N. Schaenzer

SCHAENZER, Gordon Norbert

Gordon Schaenzer, 84, of Mequon, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 14,
2015. He was born on July 13, 1930 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Milwaukee, the son of
Norbert Nicholas Schaenzer and Anna Gladys Schaenzer (nee Rohde).

He was educated at Holy Redeemer Grade School and Boy’s Tech High School & Trade
School. He entered the US Army on August 13, 1951 and was stationed in Germany
during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on July 22, 1953.

Gordon married Barbara Jane Weidman on August 28, 1954 at Our Lady of Good Hope
Parish in Milwaukee. She preceded him in death on May 8, 2010.

He was employed by Badger Tool and Engineering Co in Milwaukee and Lee Loaders in
Hartford as a tool and die maker. He was owner of Mequon Reloading Co for over 16
years.

Gordon was an avid outdoorsman and hunter, including big game, and was an
accomplished speed skater in his younger days. He fondly remembered the many
hunting and camping trips with his children. As he believed travel was an important
part of education, Gordon took his family on many driving vacations, experiencing
the majority of the US. Later on, he enjoyed participating in numerous bicycle
trips with Barbara, including a memorable ride across Ireland and France. He was
well known for his homemade Maple Syrup which he sold at local Farmer’s Markets. He
especially enjoyed spending time with his extended family and friends.

Survivors include his 6 children, David (Louise) of Minneapolis, Mark (Susan) of
Minneapolis, Brian (Joan) of Omaha, LuAnn (Trey) Litton of Kenosha, Carol Smith of
Mequon, and Matthew (Amy) of Phoenix; a brother Richard (Adelaide) of Clarksville
VA, and sister Dolores Chesser of Clarksville TN. He will be fondly remembered by
his 14 grandchildren, Brianna, Megan, Sara, John, Katie, Karl, Bennett, Bradley,
Allie, Kelcee, Rachel, Christopher, Benjamin, and Courtney.

Visitation will be Sunday, Feb 22 at 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Schramka-Densow Funeral
Home, 423 N. Main Street, Thiensville, with service to follow at 4:00 - 4:30 p.m.
Procession from the funeral home and military honors at Resurrection Cemetery,
Mequon, will be Monday, Feb 23, at 9:00 a.m.
