Obituary for Harvey E. Burg

Harvey Edward Burg passed away on November 17, 2017 at the age of 89. Preceded in death by his parents, Nic and Anna (Marks) Burg, brother John (Lorraine) and brother Lavern (Eleanor). Survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Carole (Rowe), sister Helen (Clarence) Neu and brother Dennis (Yvonne). Loving father of Daniel (Anne) and Douglas. Proud Grandpa and Great-Grandpa of Crystal Burg, Aaron Burg, Julie Gorham, Travis Burg, and Madison Burg.
Harvey was born May 16th, 1928, in Menomonee Falls Wisconsin.
He was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
He was a World War II Navy veteran, stationed in Guam. After an honorable discharge from the service, he graduated from MATC with a degree in electronics.
In 1953 he opened Burg’s Radio & TV in downtown Menomonee Falls and was in business for nearly 30 years.
Harvey embraced technology throughout his life. Starting with his TV business, then recording polka CD’s, designing artwork and posters for his favorite polka bands, using computers, and always having the latest gadgets.
Harvey also loved music. He would “jam” on his saxophone with his Dad (concertina) and brother John (violin). He played harmonica with his grandkids and loved listening and going to see polka bands. He was very proud to have two songs written for him and Carole by Dr. John Check from “The Three of Us”: “Harvey and Carole’s Polka” and “Carole and Harvey’s Waltz”.
He was well known as a “DIY” and “Mister Fix It”. No need to buy new in his household! He could fix almost anything.
Funeral Mass will be Monday, November 27th at 11 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (Cleveland Avenue, Menomonee Falls). Visitation at church from 9 AM until the time of Mass. Interment to follow Mass at St. Mary’s cemetery.
