There are few words that describe Adream as a person and the impact she made on others. For
those of us who were lucky enough to know her, she was one of the best parts of our lives.
Adream had an infectious laugh that made others feel at ease, and no matter with whom she
was speaking; you felt as though you had known her your entire life. Adream was passionate
about others, but none more so than her 10-year-old daughter Karenna. Adream made it a
point when Karenna was born to give her little girl every opportunity available and took
extreme effort to share every adventure possible in their time together. Adream took Karenna
to China when teaching, conferences when presenting, and encouraged design students to
babysit during critiques. She made sure to teach Karenna about those less fortunate and to
always empathize with others. Kindness and love were cornerstones of her parenting --- and to
always smile—sometimes that simple gesture could have the largest impact on others.
Adream was born in Joliet, Illinois in 1976 and attended Lincoln-Way High School where she
was a proud member of the school’s drumline. She received a BS in Art from Bradley University
and worked as a corporate graphic designer at iXL in Chicago. She received her Master of
Graphic Design Degree from North Carolina State University in 2003 and began teaching at the
University of Cincinnati College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning. In 2008 she moved
to the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee Peck School of Arts where she was an Associate
Professor of Design. Her research ranged from public mass transit programs, to ESL in medical
situations, and most recently working with 3D printing and rapid prototyping—helping to
design and construct 3D printed prosthetics for children.
As Adream begins her next adventure, she is leaving behind a precocious daughter Karenna and
her loving husband of 15 years, Chris, with whom she has been together since 1998.
Adream is the daughter of Andrew Blair of Kankakee, Il and Karen Blair [Cloutier] of Mokena, Il.
She is the doting big sister of Kena Blair Farrell of Plainfield, Il and will always be the proud
loving aunt to Chase and Irelyn.
Adream’s other family included her in-laws, Dale and Marita Early of Peoria, IL, Lisa and Rick
Doty of Metamora, Il, Mark and Tina Early of Castle Rock, CO and Jo Ann and Dan Armstrong of
Metamora, IL – 14 nephews and nieces and 19 grand nephews and nieces. She has cousins from
her Aunts Sue and Mary and more deeply loved friends from California to Connecticut and
across the Atlantic.
While those of us that knew Adream will never get over this loss, it is important to know that
Adream made her wishes known to donate her organs and tissue to help others. Through this
donation she was able to help save the lives of 7 people, give sight for two people that have
never seen, and provided tissue to over 75 cancer patients. There can be no better legacy of the
type of person that Adream was… to always look out for others.
There will be a Life Celebration for Adream on Saturday, September 14, from 1-5 PM at the Zelazo Center on the UWM Campus, 2419 E Kenwood Blvd., Milwaukee, WI 53211.
