Obituary for Donald A. Roeder

Roeder, Donald A.

Entered Eternal Life, on January 8th, 2021 at the age of 93, where he was reunited with his wife, Janet and son, Darrel.
Devoted Father of Keneth (Lori) Roeder and daughter-in-law Ann Roeder.

Loving Grandfather of Jennifer (Cory) Cipra, Zachary (Robyn) Roeder, Daniel (Melina), Matthew and Christina (Allen Neibauer) Roeder.

Adoring Great Grandfather of Mikaya, Isaiah, Autumn, John and Summer.

He enjoyed spending time with, and looked forward to becoming “great-grandpa” to Dayanara, Bennitt, and Leon.
Donald was born on August 5th 1927 to Edwin and Martha Roeder in Milwaukee, WI.

He was the fourth of six children and had many stories to tell about growing up on the family farm with his siblings. He loved animals, the outdoors, and nature.

As a young man, he served his country as a Gunner’s Mate in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

On November 15th 1952 he married the love of his life, Janet (nee Schmidt). Together they raised their two children doing the things they loved most, spending time camping, swimming, and hiking. Don was a scout master and dedicated many years to the Boy Scouts of America. Even volunteering to travel to Tennessee to help build a local boys camp. He shared many fond memories of the times he scouted with his oldest son Darrel.

Don worked hard throughout his life and retired from “The Downtown Library” book bindery. On the weekends he was busy hunting, gardening, or tending to his tree farm. He read many books, was a collector of “things” and was always prepared for a good game of cribbage. He was a man of wisdom and knowledge who knew something about everything. He was generous, but fair and believed in treating everyone the same. As his final resting place, he chose to have his remains placed inside a bench. His reason for this was to give people a place to relax and just sit. A shining example of the thoughtfulness and caring he exhibited toward others throughout his life.

He was proceeded in death by his wife Janet, son Darrel, his parents Edwin and Martha, brothers Theodore, Edwin, Russel and many other family and friends.

He is further survived by his sister-in law Judy Schmidt, sisters Ruth and Juanita, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 16 from 1-3 PM with a service to follow at 3 PM all at Schramka Funeral Home, 13220 W Capitol Dr, Brookfield.
