Obituary for Donald E. Werra

Don was born to life on May 24, 1943. He passed on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at his home in WI while under hospice care for lymphoma and a brain mass that was not responding to treatment. He had been in hospice care for one week after making the decision to let nature take it's course with his disease.

Don was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Catherine, sisters Elaine and Eunice, and daughter Kimberly. He is survived by the love of his life and life partner Jan (nee Palkowski). Further survived by nieces, nephews, family, friends, and divinely endowed Godson Cade.

Don retired as a Detective Captain from the Milwaukee Police Department Criminal Investigation Bureau after 32 years of service. He went on to retire as Chief of Public Safety for the City of Milwaukee Housing Authority.

Don spent his retirement years exploring the Great Northwoods of Northern WI, accompanied by his faithful yellow-lab companion Malika. Along with his wife, he also spent the winter months exploring and playing in the desert Southwest of AZ.

As per Don's wishes, no formal services will be held. A service and gathering for family and friends will be held at the entombment site on Friday, December 4, at 11 AM, at Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 W. Capitol Dr., Brookfield (please meet in the Wisconsin Memorial Park Green Parking area at 10:45 AM on Friday for the procession to the site).

There will be no post service gathering due to the current health concerns.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

The family wishes to offer a special Thank You to the entire staff at Ascension at Home Care in Arbor Vitae, WI for their compassion and support of Don and his family.
