Obituary for Gary Charles Koehler

Gary Charles Koehler, age 75 of Wauwatosa, died Wednesday, September 13, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lynn Susan (née Sheriff) Koehler; children Samantha Lynn (Aric) Carpenter, Christina Marie (Pat) Kulzer, and John Paul Koehler; grandchildren Julia, Matthew, Molly, and Katy; and sister Linda Marie Robb. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Joseph Koehler and Dorothy Mae (née Rousseau) Rohda; his siblings Eileen, Frank “Butch”, and Clarence “Skip”; and his stepfather Ronald "Bud" Rohda and stepsister Linda Jean.

Gary grew up in Brown Deer, served as an Army Reservist, and retired from a career in banking in 2001. He enjoyed collecting cars, working in the yard, golfing, playing Sheepshead with Gene & Terri and Paul & Joanne, and creating beautiful and useful objects from wood. He used his skills as a craftsman and handyman in retirement and helped many people with needed improvements to their homes. His family will always remember their many vacations in Door County, Bayfield, and on Moose Lake; countless Brewers games; the clear and calm way he explained how to navigate life; his focused dedication to his family's wellbeing; and how often he laughed and made them laugh.

A Memorial Gathering will be held October 7, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Schramka Funeral Home, 13220 W. Capitol Dr., Brookfield. The family requests no flowers. Their deepest thanks go to the Van Dyke Cancer Center and Horizon Home Care and Hospice.
