Obituary for James Joseph Rudig

Wauwatosa - James Joseph Rudig was born to eternal life on September 5th, 2021 at the age of 93. He was born on August 15, 1928 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Erwin and Loretta (Flynn) Rudig. Jim was preceded in death by his six siblings, Genevieve Huettle, Mary Thelen, John Rudig, Robert Rudig, Patricia Perez and Margorie Ramczyk.

He married Doris Leberfinger his sweetheart from Messmer High School in 1951. They raised their family together in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. They also spent many winters in Jupiter, Florida. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He was the 1956 Wisconsin State Match Game Bowling Champion, and the founder and owner of J.J. Rudig Trophy Company established in 1960. He was the 2004 Senior Club Champion at North Hills Country Club. Jim was also an accomplished card player and enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas to compete in Backgammon tournaments.

Jim was a mentor, friend and confidante to many people over his lifetime. A man of thoughtfulness and intellect. Jim had a passion in life to be the best at whatever he set his mind to, he accomplished this in business and sports. He valued his family and friends the most. His success, along with his generosity, allowed him to help make the dreams of his family and many of his friends come to fruition.

He is survived by his loving wife Sharon (Nee Keenan) of 11 years, his three children David (Antoinette) Rudig, Janice Donovan and Joyce (Jim) Hunzinger; grandchildren, Alison (Andy) Sipos, Christina (Kyle) Bolstadt, Amanda and Nicole Donovan, Shelby Hunzinger (Grant), Monika Hunzinger (Brett Puffer), Eric Hunzinger; great grandchildren Harper and Coral Grant, Eloise and David Bolstad.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Elmbrook Church Chapel, 777 S. Barker Road, Brookfield, WI 53045 on Saturday September 25 at 11:00am. Visitation for family and friends from 10:00am until the service. Final place of rest will be at Holy Cross Cemetery next to his wife Doris of 53 years.
