Obituary for Jean Bernice Flynn (Vrubley)

Jean Flynn 1938-2021
Jean B Flynn (nee Vrubley) vanquished pain on May 17, 2021. She was the devoted mother of Theresa and Patrice (Brad Stein) and proudest grandma in the universe to Kaleb Flynn Whitford. Survived also by sister-in-law Janice Vrubley, she was the beloved aunt and cousin to Vrubleys and Belekevichs, and much loved Mrs Patti to Mary, Sarah and Andrew. Awaiting her at the great Sheepshead tournament in heaven are her parents, Frank and Agnes Vrubley, her husband, Jack Flynn, her brothers and sister-in-law, Frank, Bill and Judi Vrubley, and her brothers in law Tom and Jim Flynn.
Jean's timing was surprising. Born in Sheboygan, she joined us on All Saints Day while her grandma and brother were at mass, and her mom brought her into the world alone; her dad came home from work to a new daughter. She worked hard at medical offices, the Health Department, and for over 30 years at the City of Milwaukee Police Department Traffic Division, and she always thought she'd have plenty of time to relax later, after retirement at 72.
She volunteered for her parish, she was a 25 year volunteer at Irishfest, and loved bingo. Jean loved to take pictures of all the great parties with the Shamrock Club, Emerald Society, and festivals, and occasionally lapsed into her signature artistic style which we all loved.
She loved the Sheboygan Indians, the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers.
Jean drank PBR way before it was cool. She was a good-hearted woman who loved a good-timing man. She could belt out Patsy Cline with very little encouragement, and she didn't let her babies grow up to be cowboys.
She rejoiced in the antics of her granddogs.
She was the Twinkie lady, the shamrock lady, the parent you could always ask to help at a booth or to sell pull tabs, and she still always there for her grandmas, her parents, and her daughters.
We miss her already.
And none of us have as much time as we think we do.
Thanks to our friends who supported us with rides and empathy.
While this is the one time Jean repeatedly indicated she would be happy about receiving flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Society, Cancer Association and the Humane Society are appreciated.
Visitation at the funeral home Monday, May 24, from 10am to 12noon with a service at 12noon. Interment Private.
