Obituary for John M. Schuch

John Michael Schuch was born November 11, 1936 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Isabelle and John Schuch.
Blinded at the age of nine, John never let that blindness deter him from a productive and successful life.

He attended Messmer High School, the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, Washington University in St. Louis, and Marquette University in Milwaukee.

Early in his teaching career, he taught third grade at St. Casimir School in Milwaukee and after attending Washington University, he became a computer programmer for Eastern Air Lines in Miami. His love of math and teaching led him to instruct math at a school for the blind in Miami as well as MATC in Milwaukee where he also taught computer programming. His expertise in teaching also extended to private piano students in whom he instilled the love and knowledge of classical compositions and composers. He credited Sister Consita, in grade school, with encouraging him to learn to play the piano because he couldn’t run around and play with the other kids due to his blindness.

John was preceded in death by his mother Isabelle in 1994 and his father, John, in 1989. He is survived by his half-sister Cynthia Ergenbright of Highlands Ranch, CO and his cousin Bridget Lutzke of West Bend, WI along with many friends and extended family.

A memorial service will be held on Sat. June 24 at 11:00am at Schramka Funeral Home in Brookfield. Day of interment was May 15, 2023 at Holy Cross Cemetery in the Garden Crypts.
