Joseph R. Coffey
Passed away peacefully at home on October 3, 2019 at the age of 63 with his family at his side. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Christine (nee Kunstman). Proud father of Bradley (Kelly) Coffey and Lisa Litzsey (Brian). Proud “Poppa” to Kylee and Owen Coffey, Jaelin Bowie, Addisen Litzsey, and Bria Litzsey. Brother of Patrick (Susan) Coffey and Susan Artrip. Special friend of Crystal Hotchkiss. Further survived by other relatives and friends.
Joe was a member of the Elks Lodge #46 where he had many friends and good times. We did a lot of bowling trips with the Elks Lodge.
He loved his sports: bowling, golf, softball, baseball, and hockey. His favorite teams were of course the Brewers and Packers but also the Chicago Blackhawks. We always had a game on television or radio if we were traveling.
Joe was deeply involved in his grandchildren’s lives. He loved to read to them, do art projects (yes he does have some artistic talent). He especially loved to teach them about golf and bowling. Joe loved attending Kylee’s dance recitals and yes, she got him to dance on our deck. Owen and Joe loved to play ball (all kinds) and loved to help Poppa Joe with his lawn.
2018 was a great year for our family: Joe’s biological daughter from a previous relationship reached out to us in April. We were able to reconnect with Lisa and expand our family. Joe was so excited and happy that she reached out to him. Our families bonded immediately- our son and his family were excited to have a sister and cousins.
October we had another addition- Crystal Hotchkiss. She volunteered to be a live kidney donor and was a match. The transplant took place October 24th of which we will be forever grateful. We are totally a well-blended family and love all of them very much.
Joe was also blessed with many friends including his childhood friend, Richard Vodicka and his bowling buddy of many years, Victor Erato. Because of this closeness our children consider each other as a brother/sister- a closeness that can never be broken.
Visitation will be held Saturday, October 12 from 1-3 PM with service to follow at 3 PM at the funeral home.
