Obituary for Josephine Palma "Josie" Finger (Nasci)

This is the story of Josephine (Nasci) Finger. Josie was a truly remarkable woman who was adored, admired, appreciated by so many, and will forever be celebrated. For such a petite Italian woman, Josie’s enormous heart transformed the lives of thousands of people over her 88 years here on earth.

On June 7th, 2019 she passed away peacefully at the Horizon Lawlis Family Hospice Facility in Mequon, WI after suffering a massive stroke just a few days earlier. Before she left this world to be reunited with the love of her life, Ken Finger, she quietly and comfortable spend time there to give her large and grateful family one final gift of time together where songs were sung, stories were told and memories shared.

Josie’s story starts on March 29th, 1931 in Rome, NY, the youngest child to John and Angeline Nasci. Josie spent her childhood in Rome, NY and made many lifelong friends such as Josie, Marian, and Mickey.

Rome is where she would meet and fall in love with Kenneth Finger of Sheboygan, WI. Josie and Ken had a whirlwind romance and were married on May 31, 1952. They lived in a number of places and then settled down to raise their family in Thiensville, WI. Upon Ken’s retirement in 1986 they moved to their lake home on Little Hills Lake in Wautoma, affectionately known by all as “the cottage”. Josie continued to live at the cottage on her own for 12 years after Ken passed, then moved to the Cedar Ridge Independent Senior Living Campus in West Bend in 2014, where she made many friends and enjoyed water aerobics, lunch outings, and playing sheepshead.

In addition to caring for, loving and unconditionally supporting her family, Josie kept busy cooking, clogging, cooking, gambling, cooking, square dancing, cooking, rummaging, and cooking!

Josephine is survived by her five children; Mark and his wife Molly, Patrick and his wife Heather, Paula and her husband Gerald, John and his wife Jill, and Jodi and her husband Johnny.

Additionally she is survived by seventeen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild, as well as a large number of other loving relatives and close friends.

Loved ones who cleared the path and were waiting to welcome Josie to heaven included her beloved husband Ken, parents John and Angeline Nasci, brothers Jimmy, Joseph, Gaetano, and Salvatore.

Please join us in a celebration of her life on Sunday, June 23rd at 2:00 pm in the Performance Square Banquet Room at the Cedar Ridge Campus, 113 Cedar Ridge Drive, in West Bend.

The family would like to thank all of the wonderful and caring staff at the Horizon Lawlis Hospice Center who compassionately cared for her and her family in the last days of her life.

In lieu of flowers, donations in the form of a check may be made out to “Cedar Community”, which will be used to provide services and assistance to her friends and residents there.
