Obituary for Kenneth D. "Kenny" Steib

Our fearless fighter who faced his life and illnesses with courage, perseverance, and dignity, entered Eternal Life with Our Lord on January 1, 2021. There to welcome him were his two infant sons, Kenneth and Joseph, and his parents Benedict and Adeline (nee Liedtke) Steib. Ken was born on August 11, 1932. Ken attended St. Robert grade school and graduated from Messmer High School where he met his future wife and made many lifelong friends. While at Messmer, he was on their football, basketball and golf teams. He started his apprenticeship in the printing industry, following in his uncle and father's footsteps. He served his country in the U.S Army during the Korean War, where he proudly received his Paratrooper Wings. On November 28, 1953, while home on leave, he married his high school sweetheart, Arlene Geiger. Their first child was born in Kentucky, where Ken was stationed. After his service they moved to Illinois, where Ken continued his job training. Ken excelled in sales in the Printing Ink Industry and was named Branch Manager, where he worked for 36 years. He was a member of the Milwaukee Litho Club. He had an amazing ability to remember names, even in his declining years. A "Mr. Fix It" he was not, but was a perfectionist at wood refinishing of family heirlooms. Ken played and "talked" sports his entire life, his favorite being golf. He enjoyed traveling and their frequent trips Up North. When retired, they wintered in Destin, FL, with many Wisconsin friends. Ken lived his Catholic Faith and ushered in his church where he said he could "wear his business suits again".

Ken is survived by his wife Arlene, who lovingly and tirelessly cared for him, and his three daughters, who all made it possible for him to remain in his home. His daily question was, "Are the girls coming today?", they are Denise (Tom) Monfre, Laura (Craig) Kottke, and Diane (Dan) Vanden Boogard. He was proud of his four grandchildren Courtney, Morgan (Matt), Michael (Emily), and Melissa. Many thanks to Kim, Linda, and Michelle at Seasons Hospice.

A Mass of Christian Burial with a celebration of Ken's life will be held at a safer time for all of us. Memorials appreciated to the American Cancer Society, Alzheimer's Association, or St. Dominic Catholic Church.
