Mary Ann, known to many as “Mae,” was the youngest of six children of Armenian immigrant parents. She was a 1959 graduate of Juneau High School and started working after graduation as a secretary at a small law firm in West Allis. In May 1960 she married her high school sweetheart Dave following his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army. She paused her career and raised a family of five children and became a grandmother to 12 grandchildren.
After raising a family she returned to the workforce with a career that spanned almost 30 years at Pius XI Catholic High School. Most of her career at Pius XI was as the secretary for the guidance office.
After retiring from Pius XI much of her time was spent traveling with Dave and enjoying their grandchildren, often at their lake cottage in northern Wisconsin. She also was skilled in flower arranging, enjoyed gardening, was an avid health and organic foodie. Mae regularly baked huge batches of chocolate chip cookies that were as good as any high end bakery could make. Grandma’s chocolate chip cookies are lasting legacy among many of us.
Mae was a long-standing member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish (now St. Vincent Pallotti West). She had a very strong Catholic faith, prayed countless rosaries and she had an enduring love of the mass often walking back and forth to church for daily services.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 9:30 to 11:30 AM at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church, 201 N. 76th Street, Milwaukee, WI, with a Funeral Mass at 11:30AM. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Vincent Pallotti Church or the family to be donated to the St. Camillus Foundation, would be appreciated.
