Obituary for Atty. Mila S. Lamerand

Attorney Mila S. Lamerand born to Eternal Life on August 26, 2023, surrounded by her family.   She was the daughter of the late Justice Mariano and the late Arsenia.  She was one of ten children - preceded in death by:  Arsenia, Roberto, Epifanio, Perpetua, Horacio, and Mariano Jr. and survived by:  Victoria, Armando, and Eduarda.  She was the beloved wife of the late Theodore (Ted) F. Lamerand.  She was the nanay/mother to Fernando (Nicole) and Christine (Joseph).  She was the Mimi/Wowa/Grandmother to Brooke (Joe), Adam (Mouapa), Alexander (Katie), Brendan (Sarah), Arielle (Joseph), and Michelle; she was the Great-Grandmother to Aiden, Armani, Mecasia, and baby-to-come, Wolfgang.  She is further survived by many relatives and friends.   

Born in Obando, Bulacan, Philippines, Attorney Lamerand was a graduate of Far Eastern University and licensed as an Attorney and Counsellor-at-Law in all courts of the Philippines.  She worked as the Legal and Evaluation Officer in the Administrative Department, Legal Affairs Division of the Central Bank in the Philippines.  Life brought her to the United States, where she married Ted and raised her children.  She earned her Paralegal-Legal Assistant Certificate and went on to be a longtime employee of Milwaukee County at the Office of Corporation Counsel.  

Attorney Lamerand was proud of her Filipino Heritage and extremely involved in the Filipino Community in Milwaukee.  She volunteered countless hours at various events; not only to teach about the Filipino Culture and traditions, but to also give back to the greater Milwaukee community.  She believed her role in life was to help and serve people.  She used her knowledge of the law to advocate and serve others.  She was strong in her Catholic faith and spread the Word of the Lord through her acts of service.        

She was an extraordinary person in many ways.  Her impact and influence on the community, family, and friends will be felt for years to come.  

Visitation will be held Friday, September 1st from 4-6:30 PM at Schramka Funeral Home, 13220 W. Capitol Dr., Brookfield. Service to follow at 6:30 PM.

The funeral service will be livestreamed via our Facebook page on September 1st at 6:30 PM Central Time. Follow the link below to our page. The livestream will show up as a video a few minutes before 6:30 PM, and will be available to watch after the service as well.
