Obituary for Orville A. Disch

Orville Alexander Disch passed away December 11, 2020 just as the first freshly fallen snow lay on the ground. He died of a broken heart, 33 days after his beloved wife of 74 years, Dorothy Marie (Troy) Disch died of COVID-19.

Born October 30, 1921 in New Glarus, WI. Preceded in death by his parents Herman Martin Disch and Dorothy Helen (Alexander), his son Steven Troy Disch, beloved sisters Rae Huber and Joann Kinsman.

Orville is survived by his dear sister Kay Halazon of Kansas and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He leaves behind his loving memories to his children, Jennifer Lynn (Thomas) Hayden, Jeffrey Martin (Elaine) Disch, John Steven (Donna) Disch, Jayne Ann (Michael) Popp and Julie Marie (Jeffrey) Reimer.

A true gentleman, great dad, grandfather, and American who served our country proudly in WWII. Orville enlisted straight out of high school in the Army Airforce Medical Regiment. Promoted to Drill instructor and Staff Sergeant out of basic training, Orville was then deployed to Normandy as Infantry Unit Commander. He earned bronze battle stars in Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. Orville was one of the last to come home after his final duty of Graves Registration, a solemn but important task, identifying our US soldiers remains. He was honorably discharged, an Army Lieutenant, returned home, and immediately married the love of his life.

Later, in 2010, he was proud to be included in The Honor Flight to Washington DC among the best of the best.

His love of county was second only to his love of his family. At 99 years of age, he never missed his nightly prayers, including his 18 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren and reciting them each by name: Jessica (Abe), Peyton, Myron, Sophia, and Lilly Babler, Tommy (Megan), Holly, Grace, Tommy, and Eloise Hayden, Andrea (Matt), Kate, George, and John Hunter, John (Serha), Sam, and Harper Hayden, Jeff Disch Jr., Jonathan (Jennifer), Hunter, Tanner, and Taylor Disch, Eric (Sandy), Madalyn, and Ella Van Remmen, Jason (Jennie) Van Remmen, Julie (Matt) and Elaina Sensky, Andrew Disch, Jaime (Matt) Little, Lisa Disch, Jason (Amy), Damon, and Ava Popp, Tim, Merinah, Joe and Callen Popp, Joe (Therese), Martin, Genevieve, June, Mitchell and Marian Popp, Stephen (Brenda) and Isabelle Anne Reimer, Kevin Reimer and Tripp Reimer.

As you have prayed for us Grandpa, we now pray for you. May you and grandma have a glorious Christmas in heaven with all the Angels and Saints and be surrounded by Jesus' love. May you enjoy a feast fit for Kings! Prosit! Forever, you will be in our hearts.

The family is grateful for exceptional compassion and care given by Vitas Hospice especially Jackie and Jeremy who were our very own angels right here on earth.

We thank Molly and Dawn for their never ending concern and devotion.

Private interment at Resurrection Cemetery for both Orville and Dorothy.
