Obituary for Paul A. Zimmer

Paul Anthony Zimmer Sr. was surrounded by his loved ones when he received his final call home peacefully on February 16, 2020 after gracing this world for the past 92 years.

Paul’s journey began on October 30, 1927 in Germantown, WI. He was the seventh of 11 children born to Albert and Elizabeth. He is preceded in death by his parents and 9 of his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his cherished wife Catherine (nee Gregovich) and youngest brother Tom. Paul had worked several jobs early in his life but his time at Automatic Products would forever change his path. It was during this time that he met and courted his life-long love and best friend Catherine. Paul and Katy married in 1949 and began to write their beautiful love story that lasted for the next 71 wonderful years. Professionally, Paul joined the Milwaukee Police Department in 1950 and performed in a variety of roles until he retired in 1986 having proudly served for 36 years.

Family has always been paramount to Paul and a pivotal essence of his life. He was proud and honored to have held the title of patriarch to this large family we have; beloved father to Mary Grambow, Paul Jr. (Sheila), Greg (Nancy), the late Susan (Jay Quigley,) Patrick, William, Christopher (Dana), and a major presence and shining example of what it meant to be a gentleman who held the highest integrity to his 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren with another on the way.

Paul will be forever remembered for his gentle eyes, caring heart, calming presence, loving embrace, unconditional love and wonderful stories. Although our hearts are heavy, your words will forever resonate with us all for “what is, is!” We will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is in heaven watching over us forever. You have made a lasting impact on each of us who had the good fortune to meet and talk with you. This world lost one of the truly good ones.
Rest easy good sir and enjoy your Chivas as you have shown us the model for which to follow!

Visitation will be held on Saturday, 2/29/20, from 9am to 10:15am with a Catholic Mass and burial service to immediately follow at St. Boniface Catholic Church located at W204N11940 Goldendale Rd. Germantown, WI 53022. A reception will follow upon conclusion of the ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the St. Boniface building fund.
