Obituary for Robert W. Gipp

Robert (Bob) W. Gipp

Died peacefully on Sun., Nov. 21, 2021, at the age of 91. He was ushered into this life by a mid-wife on a farm in rural Shawano County, WI, on August 8, 1930, the son of Walter and Esther (nee Marohl) Gipp. The farm had no electricity, no indoor plumbing, was heated by a Pot Belly Stove, and horses were used to plow the fields. Robert went to elementary school at a one-room school house where his aunt was the teacher. He was a member of the F.F.A. He graduated from Bonduel High School in 1948, and continued his life-long learning by attending MATC for numerous mechanical and technical courses.

Robert married the love of his life, Jeanne D. (nee Minnick) on August 26, 1950, in Milwaukee, WI at St. Peters Church. They moved to Brookfield in 1976. He worked at a few manufacturing companies: S&B Manufacturing, Miller Brewing and Kohler Manufacturing where he retired as the Second Shift Supervisor.

Robert co-founded the Northwest Milwaukee Little League in 1964 and officiated as an Umpire for several Milwaukee County softball leagues in his younger years. He enjoyed bowling, golf, and gardening; but his greatest love was that of avid mechanic. He always made himself available to assist friends, neighbors, and family with various repair needs- vehicle and other- you name it, he could fix it! Robert loved the challenge of figuring out how things worked and fixing them when they didn’t.

As far as golf goes, he became a member of the prestigious “Hole in One” club in 2007, on Hole #4, at Brookfield Hills Golf course. Most of all, he was devoted to his family and was always there to lend a helping hand when needed.
Loving husband to Jeanne D. Gipp for 71 years. Beloved father of Bruce (Yvonne) Gipp, David (Katie) Gipp, Roger Gipp, Kenneth (Susan) Gipp, Mary (Randy) Urick, Nancy (the late Joseph) Cocking, Betty Novy, Karl (Amanda) Gipp. Grandpa of 18, and Great-Grandpa of 16. Further survived by siblings Marvin, Donald, Maynard, and Ruby Grutza. Preceded in death by his brother Frank.

A celebration of life will be held on Thurs., Dec. 2, 2021 at the Wisconsin Memorial Park Family Center, 12875 W. Capitol Dr., Brookfield, WI. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by a celebratory service in the Family Center North Chapel at noon where the family will welcome the sharing of memories.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to a children’s organization or a food bank in Robert’s name would be appreciated.
