Addison Wakeford

Addison A. (Bud) Wakeford, Jr passed away on June 15, 2018 at the age of 89. Bud was born in Chicago, IL on September 11, 1928 to the late Addison and Martha Wakeford. Bud grew up in Whitefish Bay, WI and graduated from Whitefish Bay High School in 1946. He enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in post-war Japan for 18 months. Following his military service, Bud attended college at Denison University in Granville, OH. It was at Denison, he met his future wife Katie. Following their marriage, Bud brought is bride back to Milwaukee to start a family. Bud was self-employed in the leather business his entire working life. Bud was an avid golfer and enjoyed many rounds with his friends and Katie. They were long time members of Tripoli Country Club. Bud was also a hunter and enjoyed target shooting. The place where he found the most peace was in a little cabin on Dinner Lake in Upper Michigan. Listening to the loons at night and seeing the sun on the water was a little slice of heaven on earth for him. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Katie. Bud is survived by his children Kimberly (Keith) Holzberger, Mary Jo (Robert) Gindlin and Addison Wakeford III; his grandchildren Alexandria (John) Wellborn, Addison Wakeford IV and Harrison (Hayley) Gindlin; his great-grandchildren Lennon and Lively. Bud's family wishes to thank the staff at Newcastle Place in Mequon where he resided following the death of his wife. His family would also like to thank the nurses and staff at Horizon Home Care and Lawlis Family Hospice for their kind and compassionate care. Funeral services were private at Bud's request. The family will journey to Michigan where Bud's ashes will be interred beside the lake he loved so much. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Bud's name be made to Lawlis Family Hospice, PO Box 88828, Milwaukee, WI 53288-0828.
