Antonia Velk

Antonia "Toni" Velk (Nee Staniger) Was born to Eternal Life February 27, 2018 at the age of 87. Beloved wife of Joseph V. Velk for over 62 years. Loving mother of Teresa M. and Joseph A. (Helen). Proud grandmother of Emily Anna and Elliot James. Dear sister in-law of Patricia (James) Jansen. Preceded in death by her parents Frank and Anna Staniger, in-laws Joseph P. and Olive Velk, and siblings Ann Stout, Charles Staniger, Mary Todorvich, Frank Staniger, and George Staniger. Further survived by other relatives and friends. Toni was born June 10, 1930 in Numa, Iowa where she played high school basketball and the team went to state championships each year. She and Joe moved to Milwaukee in 1956 and were residents of Mequon and devout Catholic members of St. Cecelia's (now Lumen Christi) since 1961. She was an avid player of Sudoku. For 25 years she was actively involved with good friends in an investment club called the High Flyers. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 4 from 4-6 PM at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, March 5 at 11 AM at Lumen Christi Parish, 2750 W. Mequon Rd, Mequon. Interment to follow at the Lumen Christi Cemetery.
