Audrey T McEvoy

July 10, 1927 — February 5, 2026

Audrey Theresa McEvoy was born to Barbara and Frank Dziekan on July 10, 1927, and born to eternal life on February 1, 2026. Audrey grew up on the south side of Milwaukee with six siblings, all now deceased. Audrey went to a predominantly Polish Catholic grade school where she struggled through that language barrier with the help of her mom.

Audrey went to Pulaski High School. Her love for children appeared early on. One of her first jobs was caring for babies and young at Milwaukee County Children’s Home. During WWII, Audrey had a job soldering at a factory that manufactured airline harnesses for US military planes. It was there that she met the owner’s son, Jerome Dornoff. They married; however, Jerome died from polio at 27 years old, leaving Audrey a widow with two children; Cindy, aged 2, and Greg, aged 2 months. Heartbroken, with the help of her family, in-laws and faith, Audrey carried on.

God was with Audrey and she eventually met another love, Robert McEvoy, who was a salesman for Philip Morris. They married on May 4,1963 and had two children, Brian and Dennis. Before marrying Robert, Audrey worked at Kohl’s food store. When the boys were in school, she worked for Kohl’s department store. She was well-liked by everyone.
Audrey was a beautiful homemaker, who dedicated herself to her husband of fifty-six years, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a Cub Scout den mother, an aid in the learning center at St. Matthias grade school, and a volunteer at the Church. Audrey enjoyed crafts, socializing with family and friends, Polka music and dancing, games like Scrabble and ‘31’, trips to California, and especially spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Audrey is preceded in death by husbands, Robert McEvoy, and Jerome Dornoff; son Gregory Dornoff and daughter-in-law Linda Dornoff. She is survived by her children; Cynthia Booth, (George), Brian McEvoy (Kristen), Dennis McEvoy (Mark), grandchildren; Gary Brufach (Vonna), Danielle Booth, Kristin Dupee`, Tracy Baker (Ian), Joe McEvoy, Steve Thoms (Ellee), Riley Pape (Faith), Kaylie McEvoy, Celine Unger (Gregg), Shana Wild (Mark), Allen Holzbauer (Brooke), James Holzbauer, Cherell Rodriguez (Domingo) and Michael Holzbauer (Taylor), great grandchildren; Tyler Brufach, George Taylor, Owen and Tabitha Baker, Adelia Dupee`, DJ, Jenn, Alex, Colin and Jacob Unger, Brandon, Amanda, and Abigail Wild, Kenadee, Mason, Malachi and Isla Holzbauer, Luis, Gabriel and Annabelle Rodriguez. She is also survived by a host of other family and friends.

Audrey will be greatly missed and always loved, just as she loved.
The funeral will be held at St. Matthias Church on Friday, February 13th, 2026. Visitation from 10am to 12pm. Mass at 12pm. Burial to take place afterward in Eden, Wisconsin.
