Barbara Barry

October 18, 1944 — December 8, 2024

Please join us to celebrate the life of Barbara Jean Barry on April 26th at Schramka Funeral Home in Thiensville, WI from 1-4:00pm. Barb's life touched so many of us, and everyone from her circle of friends and family is welcome to attend and share memories. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society. Barbara Jean Barry, neé Ruck, age 80, of Grafton, WI passed on December 8 th , 2024. Barbara was preceded in death by her father Emil G. Ruck Sr, mother Lucy (Ruck) Fisher, brother Emil (George) G. Ruck, Jr., and brother-in-law Russel Setterlun.  She is survived by her sons Robert Barry and Peter Rose-Barry, her brother Michael Ruck, her sisters Carol Setterlun and Susan McCormick Riedle, sister-in-law Patty Ruck, brother-in-law Jim Riedle, and former husband Patrick Barry. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and grandchildren with four legs and tails. Barbara was a loving mother and took great pride in raising twin brothers. At no point would she encounter a mother with twins, or what appeared to be twins, and not offer some advice and counsel. Her dedication to providing a loving home was so great that it is easy to forget how uniquely talented and unusually she was: she was an accomplished artist and she is survived by her artwork; she was a musician able to play the piano, banjo, and, of all things, the accordion and must have played a polka at some point in her life;  she was a trained accountant, practiced carpentry, drove a Mustang convertible, built houses, volunteered in her community, and always found a way to serve as she could. Even in her final years, she continued to care and support the children in her family and took great joy in seeing her extended family grow. No visitation or services are currently scheduled but the family does plan to remember Barbara in the new year and will publish details when appropriate. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society or charity of your choice in Barbara's name would be greatly appreciated.
