Barbara T. Czachowski, age 84, a resident of Flower Mound, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2021. She joins her youngest children, David, Ellen and Joseph, who passed away on the same date 52 years ago. The family can only imagine the celebration as they welcomed her home.
Barbara was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It was there that she met her beloved husband, Robert. They were married for 65 years. During Robert's active duty of service in the US Army, she accompanied him on tours in Germany, Texas and Washington, D.C. They moved to Texas after his retirement in 1990.
Barbara was a devoted mother and homemaker. She also held several secretarial positions throughout the years, including the Art Department at Trinity University in San Antonio. During the 1960s, she and Robert were very involved in the Civil Rights movement. Barbara played the piano beautifully and had a gift for writing. She wrote a column, "Party Line," for The Press of Bryan-College Station during 1978-79. Barbara enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, creating beautiful cross-stitch works of art and was an avid reader.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father John, her mother Mildred, one brother, three sisters and her children, David, Ellen and Joseph. She is survived by her husband, Robert J. Czachowski (Colonel, US Army, Retired), daughter, Clare Porter, grandson, Joseph of Lantana, Texas and granddaughter, Kaitlin, of Houston, Texas; daughter, Claudia Neef, and her husband, William Neef, of Kingwood, Texas; granddaughter, Ellen Chaney, and her husband, Joseph Chaney, great-grandchildren Myles and Molly, of Kingwood, Texas; granddaughter, Sarah Kober, and her husband, Zachary Kober, great-grandson Noah of Lafayette, Louisiana. In addition, Barbara is survived by many nieces and nephews who meant a lot to her.
Visitation, rosary and Funeral Mass were held in Lewisville, Texas. A graveside committal will held Friday, June 25, 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Cemetery in St. Francis, Wisconsin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Texas Neurofibromatosis Foundation. They also wish to express their deep gratitude to the staff at Inspired Living and Reliant Home Health for their tender care during Barbara's final months.
