Barbara Maierle

June 14, 1946 — March 28, 2024

Barbara Jean Maierle (nee Tatle) West Allis Born June 14, 1946, Born to eternal life on March 28, 2024. Loving wife of Paul K. Maierle for 22 years. Preceded in death by her parents Harry R. and Hertha (nee Kirsten) Tatle, and brother Harry F. Tatle. Survived by daughter Stephanie Straz; sons Judson Straz and Colin (Nicole) Radcliffe; grandchildren Mariah Kauss (Mitchell Timm), Mandy Kauss, and Aidan Radcliffe; and great-grandchild Mikayla Timm. Further survived by sister-in-law Karen (Henry) Poehling, brother-in-law Mark (Sherry) Maierle, and many nieces and nephews. Barbara grew up in Wauwatosa and graduated from Tosa East. Early on she became involved in Newcomers Club and Girl Scouts. Barb was an active and energetic person. She worked at Walgreens stores in Florida and Wisconsin for over 25 years. She enjoyed assisting her many loyal customers who depended on her for advice and kindness. People were comfortable sharing their stories with Barb and she took them to heart. Once retired, Barb stayed busy working at Costco as a food demonstrator bringing home with her even more stories that were often personal and mostly entertaining. Her early investments in both companies are examples of her uncanny stock picking ability. Barb loved to travel. She took annual trips to Florida with Paul where she enjoyed spending time on the beach, seeing the sights, and basking in the warm weather. Visiting family in La Crosse and taking trips to Bayfield were two of her favorite excursions in Wisconsin. At home in West Allis, Barbara enjoyed beautifying her yard, a good read, Hallmark movies, or strolling the McCarty Park neighborhood. Stopping at local coffee shops where she could visit with the familiar staff and customers was a daily must for Barb. Barbara loved her family, and they loved her back. Everyone relied on Barb for something. She was an advisor (whether asked or not!), a confidant, a nurturer, and an event planner. Spending time with her grandchildren was always a special joy. She died unexpectedly in her sleep leaving behind a devoted family and great friends. We can take comfort in her peaceful passing, but we all miss her terribly. Barbara ended most of her conversations with a heartfelt "love you." She would want all of us to live our lives and love our families to the fullest. Memorials to the TSC Alliance are appreciated. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 4th from 4-5:30 PM at Schramka Funeral Home, 13220 W. Capitol Dr., Brookfield. Service at 5:30 PM. Reception to follow.
