Bea Lynch was born into Eternal Life on December 12, 2022. She passed from this world with her loving and devoted brother, Tim, at her side.
Born on October 9, 1929, she liked to joke that she "came with the Great Depression". Perhaps this inspired her life of thoughtful charity, kindness and service to others.
At the age of 17 and just out of high school, she entered the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary as a novice. As a nun, Bea served in Catholic schools from 1950 through 1970. She was a teacher at schools throughout the country, including Iowa, Illinois and New York. She even spent a year as a school principal. During these years, she also furthered her own education, receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree (English) from Clark College in 1963, and going on to earn a Master's degree (School Administration) at that same institution in 1968.
Bea left the BVM community in 1970 and returned to Wisconsin, in part to care for her parents where they lived near Plymouth. She worked for the Department of Health and Human Services as a teacher at Kettle Moraine Correctional Institution, Wisconsin Resource Center and Oshkosh Correctional Institution. She eventually rose to the rank of Education Director and retired on her 65th birthday, in 1994.
In 1997, she moved to Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, where she devoted her time to her grandnieces and grandnephews, often pushing them for hours in their baby carriages as they explored the great outdoors. An adventurer at heart, Bea traveled the world from Antarctica to the Great Wall of China. She loved to go on cruises and the Crystal Cruise Line was her favorite. Bea even learned to scuba dive and came back with videos of her visits to the undersea world.
Bea's detailed emails from around the globe formed a delightful journal of her excursions and are treasured by her family. Later in life, she thoughtfully wrote her memoirs, in which she detailed not only her own adventures, but also the history of her family and the daily life of the times in which she lived. This candid reflection on her life and times is a blessing and keepsake for the family to whom she gave so very much. She will be greatly missed.
Bea is survived by her brother, Dr. N. Timothy Lynch (Suzette), together with her nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and many devoted friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 27th, 2022, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Menomonee Falls, WI. There will be a visitation at Noon, with the Mass to follow at 1 PM.
