Ben Swahn, 72 of Mequon, Wisconsin passed away on July 29, 2021 while at home surrounded by loving family and dear friends. He is survived by Mary, his wife of 32 years, and stepchildren Michael and Claudia.
Ben was a native of Sweden. After studying law at university and serving in the Swedish army, Ben entered the medical device field. He took a position in France where he had clients from throughout Europe and Asia. Ben became proficient in French and German. His success in the European market earned him a transfer to America in 1985.
He lived in New Jersey and that is where he met and married Mary in 1988. After building a life in New Jersey, Ben, Mary and the two children moved to Mequon in 1997 when Ben's career grew to new heights. Ben and Mary became rooted in their new community, making great friends.
Ben loved opera, had a sophisticated palate and loved a well-mixed drink. He loved to travel and learn about cultures from throughout the world. He loved America, and one of his proudest moments was becoming a citizen of this great country in 2001.
In 2011, Ben was diagnosed with a sarcoma cancer. So passionate about life, Ben would not let his illness slow him down. He continued to work, he continued to travel and he continued to enjoy his loving family and friends. Throughout his treatments he was grateful for the exceptional care he received at Memorial Sloan Kettering and Froedtert Clinical Cancer Center. He was especially thankful to the doctors and nurses in charge of his care. And the greatest care was from his living angel, Mary.
In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for Sarcoma Research at
