Betty joined her late, loving husband, Ben Szalewski and dance partner of 42 years on May 30, 2026.
Betty was the second oldest of six children of the late Alphonse and Margaret (nee Hitz) Schwalbach. She grew up in Elderon, WI. After graduation she moved to Milwaukee and worked at Allen Bradley. She moved to Menomonee Falls in 1960 and was a stay at home mom to her son and daughter. She is survived by son, Greg Szalewski and daughter in law Karen and loving daughter, Pamela Moldenhauer and loving son in law, Jeff Moldenhauer. Proud nana to Katie Exner, Bryan Szalewski, David, Vincent and Daniel Moldenhauer and great grandchildren, Brooklyn Exner, Wayne, Leo and Natalie Moldenhauer.
She is further survived by brother, Donald Schwalbach and sister-in-law, Mary of Wittenberg and sister, Arlene Romans and brother-in-law, Ralph of Glendale and dearest friend, Audrey Neu, many nieces, nephews and other friends.
Betty was preceded in death by husband, Ben; siblings, Eugene and James Schwalbach and Janie Jankowski (Schwalbach) and brother-in-law Hank Jankowski.
For many years Betty found fulfillment with in home day care for grandchildren and the children of friends. She provided loving and personalized care along with the sharing of many life lessons. She loved caring for the children.
One of her hobbies of great passion was caring for all her house plants and gardens. She enjoyed sharing her plants with others and many of her hostas are thriving around the community. Other passions included international travel, entertaining, sewing and volunteering at St. Anthony Fish Frys (lifelong member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church for over 60 years.) She was also a member of the Milwaukee Austrian Club. Above all, her greatest passion was for her family.
The family thanks all of the loving staff and care givers at Silverado North Shore for their compassionate care of Betty. She loved living at Silverado and really loved and grew fond of all the amazing people there.
Visitation on Thursday, June 11 from 9:00 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM at St. Anthony Catholic Church N74 W16304 Appleton Ave. Menomonee Falls. Burial at the church cemetery will immediately follow Mass.
