Beulah Mae Lafferty (Dawson), 91, of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2026, surrounded by family. Her passing was preceded by those of her two eldest daughters, all four of her brothers, and her adoring husband.
Beulah was born on June 26, 1935, in Ryan, Iowa, to Morris Manard Dawson and Ella Mae Dawson (First). She was the middle child of five: Floyd, Jimmie, Beulah, Glenn, and LeRoy. She graduated from Newton High School and then married the love of her life, John Richard Lafferty, on December 26, 1954. Beulah was a devoted wife to John and the beloved mother of seven children: Glenna, Janice, David, Paul, Steven, Sarah, and Susan. She was the grandmother of eighteen, and adoring great-grandmother of twenty-six, and the proud and delighted matriarch of a still growing legacy.
Beulah was known for her steadfast devotion to her husband, her farm-strong work ethic, her deep personal faith, her resolute strength through adversity, her attentive guiding hand with her children, her tireless service in church and school, her eagle eye that missed nothing, for her grinning at her husband’s sense of humor, her fierce loyalty, for her family traditions like baking everyone their favorite pie at thanksgiving, for her soldiers-wife type of patriotic fervor, for her slightly mischievous smile like she had a secret, for her doting love of all young children, her refuge in a good book, her joy at watching the birds at the feeder, her competive nature, for being a sudoku, crossword and rummikub savant, for being the favorite human of every family pet, and of course, for her famous cream puffs. She treasured family vacations, babies in her arms, passionately cheering on the sidelines, and time spent with family and friends. She especially cherished her decades spent with the man she absolutely adored - her husband of 67 years: John Lafferty.
Visitation with family and friends (lite food and refreshments provided) will be on Tuesday, October 27 at Schramka Funeral Home in Menomonee Falls, WI from 4 to 7 with a celebration of life led by her grandchildren to follow at 7pm.
Beulah's presence, kindness, and strength are missed. Fond memories of her fill our thoughts and her steadfast love will be forever treasured in our hearts.
