She is survived by her son, Louis William Lessor, daughter-in-law Mary Jo Morgan Lessor, grandchildren Louis Patrick and Margaret Claire Lessor, and Mrs. Mary Jack, sister, La Canada CA.
Born and raised in San Diego, CA she lived in many parts of the U.S. (including Hawaii) and traveled to many countries to explore other cultures. She learned Hula, Chanting, and a deep love of Christ during her years in Hawaii; basket weaving on Lompoc Island in Bali; the history of religion in Java, Indonesia; wonderful animal protection laws in New Zealand and the importance of protecting our resources from the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, the Rain Forest in Brazil, and Belize; and Darwin's theories of evolution in the Galapagos Islands.
Known as Grandma B, she adored her grandchildren and moved to Wisconsin in 1998 to be near them. She purchased her hobby farm in Darien in 1999 as an extension of her lifelong love of animals and often said that animal rescue was her calling from God.
Claire attended De Paul University and the University of Illinois, School of Public Health earning her Master's Degree. While with the Air Force she earned a certification in Cost and Price Analysis and with the Veterans Administration earned a Master's Degree in Information Technology. She had a full career retiring when she was 73 years old.
Claire spent many years competing with her gaited horses. Her first horse was a Tennessee Walker gelding- one of the first on the east coast to engage in Competetive and Endurance Trail Riding. They amassed over 2,000 competitive and 3,000 pleasure trail miles together. As she aged, she switched to all pleasure trail riding on a Spotted Saddle Horse and a Rocky Mountain gelding. She also enjoyed driving her Haflinger mare. Surrounded by grandchildren, dear horse friends, wonderful neighbors, horses, dogs, cats, and goats she led a full and active life.
No viewing is planned; Claire requested cremation in keeping with her beliefs. Donations can be sent to the SPCA.
