Born June 7, 1942, to Ronald and Rose (O'Brien) Nelson in Brooklyn, NY. Professed his vows as a Salvatorian (Society of the Divine Savior) on July 26, 1969. Ministered as teacher and counselor in Phenix City, AL; Washington, DC; Silver Spring and Rockville, MD. Bro. Roger was a modern-day Saint Francis, raising various animals as pets and for his teaching, both in his classes and at Camp St. Charles in Rock Point, MD, where he served as counselor for many summers. Retired to Alexian Village in Milwaukee, WI, in 2019, where he died peacefully on August 3, 2023, at the age of 81. Preceded in death by parents, brother Ronald and sister-in-law Noreen Nelson, sister Roseann Nelson, and brother-in-law Michael Harrington. Survived by sister Regina Harrington of Garden City, NY, nephews, nieces, and his brothers and sisters in the Salvatorian Family. Visitation Monday, August 14, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Holy Spirit Chapel at Alexian Village, 9301 N. 76th St., Milwaukee, with a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will be Monday at Salvatorian Cemetery in St. Nazianz at 3:00 PM.
