Born to Eternal Life February 25, 2026, age 86 years.

Bruce Froemming began his professional umpire career in the Nebraska State league in 1959 when he was only 18 years old. For 13 years he worked in the minor leagues before a well served promotion to the major leagues in 1971 thru 2008.

In 1973, he was chosen to work his first National League Championship Series between the New York Mets and the Cincinnati Reds. Bruce added 10 more League Championship Series in 1977, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1985, 1989, 1991, 1993, 1997, and 2000 to set a Major League umpiring record.

In addition, he appeared in five World Series in 1976, 1984, 1988, 1990, and 1995 as well as two All-Star games in 1975 at Milwaukee County Stadium and in 1986.

The Detroit Free Press chose Bruce as the major leagues top ball and strike empire in 1988 and 1989. Polling players and managers, the sporting news voted Bruce Froemming the top umpire in the National League in 1986, 1991, and 1993. He also has been a CBS playoff and World Series commentator and A Crew Chief for 15 years.

He is survived by his wife Rose Marie, his two sons, Steven and his wife Elizabeth, and Kevin and his wife Lynn and two grandchildren, Nicolas and Christopher, his sister Kathy Schweitzer and a half brother John Glass. Also survived by other relatives and friends.

Visitation Saturday, March 7, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Schramka-Densow Funeral Home, 423 N. Main St., Thiensville, followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Mequon-Thiensville Community Foundation K-9 unit (MTCF) would be appreciated.
