Carol Ann (Crawford) Hough passed away at the age of ninety-three on November 16, 2025, in Mequon, Wisconsin.
Carol was born in Waukegan, Illinois on December 24, 1931, to William Kendall and Cecelia (Short)
Crawford, and was the youngest of their three daughters.
Carol graduated from Waukegan Township High School in 1949 and enrolled at St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Evanston, Illinois, the following year. She received her nursing degree from Loyola University of Chicago in 1952.
Carol married the love of her life, Frank Hough, in Waukegan, Illinois on August 22, 1953. They were married for 62 years. The couple had six children, which fulfilled her dreams of having six children and also being a registered nurse. She was a life-long Catholic whose faith was central to her life and was an incredible example to the rest of her family.
She resided for 38 years in Waukegan, Illinois, and for the next 22 years in Grayslake, Illinois. She spent her retirement living in Sister Bay, Door County, Wisconsin, and also the Milwaukee area where she was cared for by her loving children and their spouses. Her final years were spent residing at Story Point Senior Living in Mequon, Wisconsin.
Carol was born to be a nurse and spent almost 60 years in various fields of nursing, including hospitals, doctor’s offices, and then doing home health care in Door County, Wisconsin.
Carol will be remembered by all as being faith-filled, caring, smiling, conscientious, loving, and a true credit to her family and profession.
Carol is survived by her six children, Cheryl (Dr. Alan) Johnson of Morton, Illinois, Dr. Terrence Hough of Waterford, Wisconsin, Caryn (Geoffrey) Grossman of Mequon, Wisconsin, Linda (Bradley) Long of Mackinaw, Illinois, Maureen (Robert) Perez of Arbor Vitae, Wisconsin, and Timothy (Lara) Hough of Lake Villa, Illinois.
Carol leaves behind eighty-six family members who loved her dearly, including twenty grandchildren and their spouses, thirty-nine great grandchildren and their spouses, one great-great grandchild, one sister-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Frank (Muggs) Hough, her parents, her sisters, Joan (Dr. Glen) Johnson, Marilyn (Larry) Hanzel and her brothers-in-law, Don Hough, and Jeane (Sandy) Hough.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated by her grandson, Father Shane Michael Johnson, on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Lumen Christi Parish in Mequon, Wisconsin. Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. and the Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m.
