Col. Robert Czachowski Us Army (Ret.)

Robert Joseph Czachowski, Colonel, US Army, Retired, age 89, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2023. He is now reunited with his wife, Barbara, and their three youngest children, David, Ellen and Joseph. Robert was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated from Marquette University in 1956, married his wife, Barbara, and began his career with the US Army. He left active duty and taught English and Social Studies at Notre Dame High School in Milwaukee, where he had graduated from in 1951. While teaching, Robert also worked for the Milwaukee Railroad, Milwaukee Parks and Recreation and served in the Army National Guard. In 1967, Robert returned to active duty in the Army and served tours in Vietnam, Germany, Texas and Washington, D.C. While serving, he obtained a master's degree from Boston University and a doctoral degree from Texas A&M University. His final assignment was in the office of the Army Surgeon General in Washington, D.C. After retirement from the Army in 1990, he worked as the Director of Education for the American Association for Respiratory Care in Dallas, Texas, ultimately retiring in 2001. In his retirement, Robert was involved at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewisville, Texas, serving as both a Eucharistic and liturgical minister. He was also a board member of their neighborhood HOA, serving on the landscape committee. One of his favorite things to do every year was judge the Christmas tree lights in the Wellington community. Robert was preceded in death by his father Ignatz, his mother Kathryn, a brother Reverend James A. Czachowski, his wife Barbara, and their children, David, Ellen and Joseph. He is survived by his daughter, Clare Porter, grandson, Joseph of Lantana, Texas and granddaughter, Kaitlin, of Houston, Texas; daughter, Claudia Neef, and her husband, William Neef, of Kingwood, Texas; granddaughter, Ellen Chaney, and her husband, Joseph Chaney, great-grandchildren Myles and Molly, of Kingwood, Texas; granddaughter, Sarah Kober, and her husband, Zachary Kober, great-grandson Noah of Lafayette, Louisiana. In addition, Robert is survived by many nieces and nephews who meant a lot to him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in St. Francis, Wisconsin. Interment, with full military honors, will follow at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Texas Neurofibromatosis Foundation. They also wish to express their deep gratitude to the staff at Inspired Living in Lewisville where Robert lived for the past two years and to Ardent Hospice for their tender care during his final days.
