Mrs. Darlene Hughes was born on June 27
th
, 1950, to Viola and Herbert Schwoerer in Cleveland, Wisconsin. Darlene was the youngest sibling of older sisters Janice and Diane Schwoerer. Darlene received her formal education from St. Gregory High School in Saint Nazianz. In 1968, she moved from Cleveland, Wisconsin, to Milwaukee, where she attended Cardinal Stritch College and received her bachelor's degree in 1972.
In college, she met her lifelong friend Annet Frink, who would then help to introduce her to her lifelong love, Felix Hughes. Felix and Darlene were wed in holy matrimony in 1976 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They would have their first child, Stacey Ann Hughes, in June of 1981 and three years later have their final child, Justin Taylor Hughes, in July of 1984.
Darlene had a long and illustrious career working for Milwaukee County in the Human Resources Department for over 20 years. During her career she received many promotions and ended her career as a Human Resources Coordinator before retiring in May 2006.
Darlene was an avid reader. Her collection of books was impressive, all of which she read time and again. Her books ranged from autobiographies to thrillers to memoirs. First and foremost, Darlene was an engaged and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and Aunt. She did all she could to provide a loving, warm, and prosperous home. She took delight in seeing her family thrive. Her family's success was her success, and she took great pride in putting them in positions to be successful.
Darlene fell silently asleep in the arms of the lord on December 17
th
, 2023, after she fought a long hard battle with Parkinson's. She was preceded in death by her parents, Viola and Herbert Schwoerer.
She will be greatly missed by those she left her indelible mark on. This includes husband Felix; two children: Stacey (Theo) and Justin (Micaela); two sisters: Janice Adelman (Chuck Mahnke) and Diane Marks (Ron); nieces: Beth (Constante), Pam (Jim), and Wendy (Mark); nephews: Chris (Pat), Judd (Jennifer), and Chad (Theresa); grandchildren: Tristyn, Jordan, Jayla, Madison, Latrell, Tyrane, Terrell, Cyrus, Myrical, and a host of other family and friends.
