David Petersen

October 26, 1964 — June 7, 2021

David (Dave) B. Petersen (1964-2021) Dave was born on October 26, 1964 and passed away on June 7, 2021 at the age of 56, following health complications due to diabetes. Dave is survived by his mother, Janice (Derrol) Smith, sisters Karen (Brian) and Kristine (Drew), and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Petersen. If you knew Dave, you knew of his deep passion for music. Music ran through his blood. A self-taught drummer, he was at home when he was on stage. His signature drumstick necklace was always around his neck. He was a member of many bands throughout the years, including Street Kid and others, touring Wisconsin and throughout the country. Quick witted and the life of the party, Dave was always prepared with a sarcastic (yet loving) comeback, automatically followed by his infectious laugh. He would give you the shirt off his back, cook you a meal, or fix anything that needed repair. He was a master at Jeopardy and intuitive with electronics. Recently he began playing drums at a church in West Bend a few nights a week. Though he struggled with his health, he continued to make music as long as his body would allow. The family will host a celebration of life in Dave's memory on Sunday, June 13, 2021, from 2:00-5:00pm at the Raceway Bar & Grill, 711 E. Washington Street, Slinger, WI. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116. "Music is the one common bond we have with everyone else on this planet." – Dave Petersen
