David A. Schmidt
Born to Eternal Life on June 23rd, 2025, age 80.
Survived by his brother, Martin (Dale) Schmidt, daughters Sarah Beackley and Jessica Schmidt, son-in-law Christopher Beackley, as well as nephews, nieces by marriage, grand-nieces, and a grand-nephew.
Proceeded in death by his parents, John and Hilda (Hansel) Schmidt and wife Sandra (King) Schmidt.
He was a devout Christian from a young age, unafraid to express his faith in the Lord and continually offered encouragement to others as his faith grew throughout his lifetime.
David proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War with 1 overseas deployment.
He was a devoted husband to Sandra for 17 years before she preceded him in death in Jan. 1999.
A lifelong resident of Wisconsin, David worked for the City of Milwaukee as a garage attendant and sanitation worker. After retirement, he was a part-time school bus driver until 2016.
David was an avid photographer, documenting nature, portraits, and all life events. During his favorite season (summer), he enjoyed bike riding, swimming in Wisconsin lakes, and hiking at state parks. He has traveled to national parks, Florida, Hawaii, Canada, Rome, and Kenya. He frequently went antique shopping to add to his pocket watch and model car collections. He enjoyed spending time with his children, brother, and friends Larry and Gail. David adored 3 cats over the years, Rose, Angel, and Max.
A memorial service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Brookfield, WI on July 7th at 5:30pm; visitation to begin at 4pm.
