Dennis (Denny) Earl Thiet passed away peacefully on January 15, 2025, at the age of 94. Dennis was born in Milwaukee, on July 1, 1930. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 72 years, Donna (nee Wulk) Thiet; his children Darcie (Gary) Elshoff, Drew (Marilyn) Thiet, and David (Sheri) Thiet. He is further survived by 5 grandchildren, Jeffrey (Traci) Elshoff, Kelly (Daniel) Rogers, Brian (Alexa) Thiet, Jennifer (Benjamin) Hampel, Mollie (Shaun Hanson) Thiet, and 11 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Erwin and Pearl Thiet.
Dennis became a watchmaker at age 19, and at the time was the youngest watchmaker in Wisconsin. He spent his career working as the second-generation owner of Thiet Jewelers in Whitefish Bay. Dennis was happiest outdoors. He was an avid golfer, a pilot, and enjoyed hunting and fishing at his property in northern Wisconsin, as well as spending time at the log cabin he helped build in Ely, Minnesota. Dennis and Donna loved to travel, and their adventures took them all over the world to places such as Tahiti, Australia, South America, and Europe. Dennis had a quick sense of humor, and could make a mean bloody mary, never to be stirred! Dennis enjoyed spending time with their many friends and family, and he will be greatly missed.
Per his wishes, no formal service or gathering will take place. Instead, the family encourages friends and loved ones to remember and celebrate the cherished moments shared.
