Donald Huber

Donald J. Huber, 84, formerly of Cedarburg, joined his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 4, 2018. Don was born on September 5, 1933 in Cedarburg, WI to John and Leona (nee Fischer) Huber. He graduated from Cedarburg High School in 1952. From there, he attended UW River Falls. He later joined the US Army and served his country during the Korean War. He spent the majority of his professional career working for the City of Milwaukee. Don had a number of achievements in his life. In 2011 he was inducted into the first Cedarburg High School hall of fame. Don was a four-year varsity starting guard for the Cedarburg High School basketball team and was an exception in an era when backcourt performers were not supposed to be high scorers. At 5'9", he introduced the "jump shot" to Cedarburg basketball and graduated as the school's all-time leading scorer with 641 career points, a record that stood for 15 seasons. He also achieved a single-season record of 269 points as a senior. He would remind us that at that time, there was no three point shot. Don was a member of the 1949-50 and the 1951-52 4-C Conference championship teams and was named to the First Team All-Ozaukee County for the 1950's All-Decade Team. While in high school, he was also an outstanding football player, lettering three times, and a member of the 1949 and 1951 4-C Conference championship teams. In 1950 he was named most valuable player by his teammates. In 1951, he was named most valuable player, captain, outstanding 4-C Conference player and Honorable Mention All-State. He was recruited by UW – River Falls and received a full scholarship to play half back. Some may remember him by his nickname "Dada". Don had a passion for motorcycles and his motorcycle friends. He proudly displayed pictures of all of you. He frequently attended the Daytona 200, enjoyed his trips to Florida and traveled the country to attend motorcycle shows. He is survived by his son, Steven (New Mexico), his brother, Jerry (Nancy) Huber, Thiensville, his nieces Karrie (Ted) Christian, New London and Kimberly (Paul) Depies, Germantown and their children. He is further survived by his cousins and friends with whom he was close. Visitation will be held at the Schramka-Densow Funeral Home, 423 N. Main St, Thiensville on Thursday, April 12 from 11 am – Noon. Services will begin immediately after the visitation. Interment will follow the service at Immanuel Cemetery in Cedarburg.
