Donald Schneider

September 5, 1939 — April 26, 2026

Kewaskum

Donald “Butch” Schneider, age 86, of Kewaskum, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026. He was born on September 5, 1939, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Affectionately known as “Butch” to many family members and lifelong friends, Donald grew up in the Milwaukee area and later attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he pursued a career in pharmacy. He worked as a retail pharmacist for over four decades, primarily with Target and Kmart. A dedicated and hardworking man, he often balanced multiple jobs at once to ensure his family was well supported.

Donald was known for his stubborn and opinionated nature, balanced by a friendly and personable demeanor that drew people to him. He was exceptionally generous—sometimes to a fault—and held a deep love for his family, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as his beloved pets.

He was an avid fan of Wisconsin sports, faithfully following the Brewers, Bucks, Packers, and Badgers football and basketball teams. He enjoyed classic games such as chess, cribbage, and sheepshead, but took particular pride in checkers, where he confidently claimed that no one could beat him. A natural storyteller, Donald loved sharing memories of his early life, and he never shied away from lively political discussions, often remarking that he could fix things if he were in charge.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Schneider and Susan Chovonec; his wife, Eileen Schneider; his brother, Daniel Schneider; and his nephew, Kevin Schneider.

He is survived by his children, Pamela Schneider; Deborah (Schneider) Hand; Thomas (Katie) Schneider; and David (Erika) Schneider. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Abraham Bozkurt, Gabriel (Ash) Bozkurt, Josh (Stephanie) Hand, Devin Schneider, Ava Schneider, Mila Schneider, Kaci Esperes, and DJ (Jordan) Knight; and his great-grandchildren, Layla Hand, Vito Esperes, Dominik Esperes, Caesar Esperes, and Liam Knight. He is further survived by his brothers, Lee (Peggy), Joel (Francesca), and Mike (Rick), along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Donald is also survived by his loyal dog, Louie, and his parrot, Zoey. He was preceded in death by his pets Asa, Mo, Blue, and Popeye.
