Donnis Whiting

Donnis Wayne Whiting, age 78, of West Bend, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022. Donnis was born on January 14, 1944 in Blue River, Wisconsin. After high school he joined the U.S. Marine Corp. from September 1962 to October 1966 and served two tours in Vietnam. After the service he worked for Air America. Donnis then went back to school for an airplane mechanic and to get his pilots license. Being a motivated learner he became a journeyman and apprentice for steamfitting. He began his career in Connecticut and eventually moved back to Wisconsin where he retired as a steamfitter from MPS. One of Donnis's greatest passions was wildlife photography. He judged photography contest and had photos published in wildlife coffee table books. He was also a member of the West Bend Gun Club where he assisted with contest and taking care of the grounds. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying small plans and his travels in Europe. Donnis was a quiet man, but never missed the opportunity for a great one-liner. Donnis was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Marian Whiting (Rosemeyer) and sister-in-law, Teresa (wife of Kenneth Whiting). Donnis is survived by his loving sibilings Kenneth, Virginia (Thomas) Patterson and Karl (Ed Genga). Proud uncle of Lesley (Scott) Augustine, Adam (Mary Beth Burdette), David (Amy Marko) Patterson, and Elizabeth (Rob Bowles). Great-Uncle of Faith, Jacob, Nicole, and Christian.
