Dorothy Spangenberg

May 27, 1927 — January 23, 2021

Dorothy Spangenberg passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on 1-23-21. Dorothy was born on May 27, 1927 to Ernest and Vera Davis in Greenfield, WI. She was the last living of her 12 siblings including her twin sister, Doris. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband James, "Jimmy'', who she married on August 27, 1949. "Dort" and Jimmy had 2 sons, Bob /Squeak (Sandy) and Dennis/Denny (Kim). Her boys were her pride and joy. She taught them to play baseball, climb trees, build forts, fish, and play cribbage (which she usually won.) Dorothy was known as Auntie Dodo to her many nieces and nephews. Dorothy loved her grandkids – Chelsea, Danny (Chelsea), Heather (Seth), Allie, Matt, and Kyle, as well as her great granddaughter, Cambria. She was influential in their lives and they will miss her dearly. Dorothy was so proud of her yard! She continued to maintain her 1 acre lawn, vegetable garden, and multiple flower gardens until a year ago. A tall totem pole stands in her back yard. She was a self-taught carver, eventually selling her carvings around the country. Besides totem poles, both large and miniature (each grandchild had one) she also did many carvings of The Last Supper. Dorothy loved to fish on Lake Pokegama in Lac du Flambeau, WI, especially with Jimmy and Doris. Her favorite location was "Ma's Spot" and it is still a hot spot for her sons and grandkids. Dorothy put up a good fight and with the help of her boys she was able to stay in her home until the end. While we are all sad and will miss her we know she is now back on the lake fishing her heart out with Jimmy and Doris. Private ceremony will be held.
