We lost our beautiful, sweet Dustin M Garley on Aug. 27, 2022, at the age of 30. Our family was not expecting Dustin's life to be cut so short; we are all devastated by this tragic loss. He will be forever missed.
Dustin was a kind and loving soul with compassion that challenged us all to be better versions of ourselves. He had a heart of gold, a big smile for everyone he met, and was fun to be around. His laugh, along with his silly sense of humor could brighten the day for anyone.
Dustin's love of the outdoors was his happy place whether fishing, at the ocean surfing or exploring nature. When not outdoors, he was nurturing nature indoors with his sea creatures, reptiles and 3 cats. Dustin had a love of music, playing guitar and songwriting which, he used to express his heartfelt emotions and love. We all loved to listen.
Dustin reminded us that life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest. He always spoke his truth, encouraged others to do so, and uplifted those around him. Through good times and bad we lived, loved, and laughed.
Left to be cherished by his mother, Shelley Callaghan and stepfather Peter Romano; sister Amanda Garley; father Matthew Garley and stepmother Christina Garley; best friend Brogan Etten; grandparents (the late) Wilf and Alice Callaghan; grandmother Mary Lou Dobson; grandmother Barbara Romano; grandparents Sharill Stewart and John Stewart Jr.; along with many loving aunties, uncles, cousins and countless friends.
Dustin wrote last November in his memorial to his grandpa –
"There is no doubt in my mind that we will all be together again someday. I find comfort in knowing that when it's my time you will be there"
Rest in Peace…we will miss you dearly. Always, forever.
In lieu of flowers, we're grateful for charitable donations made in Dustin's memory to Mental Health America, or Pearson Center for Alcohol and Drug Addiction Research or American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
