Peacefully passed away on Tuesday October 27, 2015 at the age of 90. Born December 1, 1924 to Hugo and Elfrieda (Blum) Holz. Preceded to Heaven by his parents, loving wife Catherine (Tarantino) Holz of 63 years and son-in-law John Taugher and other family members. Survived by his children William E. Sr. (Shirley) Holz and daughter Sandra Taugher, his adoring grandchildren William E. Jr. (Brenda) Holz, Scott (Dawn) Holz, and Jeremy Holz and Bernd Hesse, his cherished great-grandchildren William E. III, Jerott, Jada, Alexis, and Addison Holz.
Earl was a U.S. Army Veteran who served with the 227th Artillery Battalion in WWII from 1943-1946. He was in action in New Guinea and the Philippines, taking part in the Liberation of Luzon, and was awarded the American Theater Service Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Award Ribbon, Philippines Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal 45 and the Bronze Arrowhead.
A dog lover, Earl was saddened when his Yorkie pal "Willie" passed. He was also very proud of his Christmas displays of trains, 300 stuffed bears, lighted and decorated trees plus dozens of Santa's and animated characters.
The family would like to thank the staff at Linden Grove Nursing Home and the staff of Seasons Hospice for their wonderful care.
Memorial service will be held Friday, October 30 at 1 pm at the funeral home. Visitation from 11 am until time of service.
