Eugene Schramka

November 24, 1930 — October 2, 2025

Eugene J. "Gene" Schramka, age 94 years, Entered the Kingdom of Heaven on October 2, 2025, to be with his high school sweetheart and wife Ellen of 63 years. Dear father of Paul (Anne), Sis (Paul) Steinmetz, E.G. (Barb) and Kevin (Lori) Schramka. Fond brother of Tommy (Jeanne) Schramka. Also survived by 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Gene was preceded in death by his brother Paul (the late Barb and the late Ruth) and his granddaughter Lesley. Gene served in the Korean War as a Lieutenant on the USS Cavalier. He was the captain of the Marquette University basketball team in 1952 and was the basketball coach and athletic director at Francis Jordan High School. Gene was a longtime member of the Elks Lodge #46 with an honorary membership with the Ladies Aqua Bells. The family extends their special thanks to his neighbors Terri and "Big John" for their unique and caring companionship. Visitation Tuesday, October 7, from 10:00 to 11:30 am at Mother of Good Counsel Church, 6924 W. Lisbon Ave., Milwaukee, with a Funeral Mass at 11:30 am. Private interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
