Francis Thorn

Age 91, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Fritz was born on April 6, 1930, in Granville, WI to Joseph and Kathryn Claas Thorn. He graduated from Custer High School in 1948. Fritz worked at Wisconsin Gasket Co. for 42 years. After his retirement, he worked at Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls for 18 years. Fritz enjoyed coaching sports at St. Bernadette School, Messmer High School, and Northwest Little League. Fritz married Dorothy McGinley on August 14, 1954 at St. Leo Catholic Church. They settled on the northwest side of Milwaukee to raise their family. Fritz and Dorothy were founding and lifelong members of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Milwaukee, where Fritz sang in the choir. Fritz was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy. He is survived by his children David, Mary (Mark) Dobratz, Tim (Barb), Jeff (Debby), and Ken (Ann), 11 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law Ruth Thorn. Also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, and 4 brothers and spouses Jerome, James, Ernest (Patricia), and William (Nancy) Thorn. Funeral Mass Saturday, March 26, 11 AM at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 8200 W. Denver Ave. Burial to follow at St. Catherine Cemetery. Visitation Friday, March 25, from 5-7 PM at the Schramka Funeral Home, W164 N9034 Water St., Menomonee Falls, and visitation Saturday at the Church from 10 AM until the time of Mass.
