George J Fetzer

March 2, 1938 — December 22, 2025

West Bend

George John Fetzer, 87, passed away peacefully in his sleep with family by his side on December 22, 2025.
He was born on March 2, 1938, to George and Stella Fetzer and grew up in Milwaukee. He grew up there alongside his four siblings (Marion, Rose, David and Sharon). He met his wife Bernice Salevski and they were married on June 24, 1961. They were married 62 years. They were blessed with two daughters, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
George was a devoted husband and loved his wife, Bernice. They had common interests and enjoyed their life together. He was a loving father who instilled Christian Values in his daughters. He always took time for his girls and was generous.

George was a hard worker and worked for A. O. Smith Corporation as a welder, worked in the Wauwatosa school district as a custodian and retired from Brookfield Assembly of God as their head custodian. Through the years, he had some side jobs doing what he loved most – working on cars. He worked at a body shop and after retirement, he drove cars from Illinois to Wisconsin to auction for his cousin who owned a dealership. George was in the Army Reserves for six years to serve his country. Some of his interests were fishing, camping, watching Brewer’s games, attending church softball games, bowling, taking trips with his wife and visiting with family and friends. Later in life he started collecting antique model cars and found a new companion, his little dog Henni who enjoyed sitting on his lap and going for walks. George enjoyed visiting local restaurants for his favorite meal – breakfast.

George was a Christian all his life. Every time the church doors were open, George and his family were there. He was an usher, parking lot attendant, and he served and prepared communion at different churches. 15 years ago, he and Bernice moved to West Bend, and they attended West Bend Community Church. They faithfully volunteered at the church’s food pantry (Ruby’s Pantry) on a monthly basis. At age 87 and a half, George was still preparing the elements monthly for communion. In his personal life, you often found him reading his Bible or reading a daily devotional. He liked listening to Gospel music. He and Bernice attended numerous Christian concerts. The Gather Trio was his favorite.

George is survived by his children: Kathleen, Joyce and her husband Ken. Grandchildren: Burnell, Bridgette, Alyson and husband Joe, Nathanael and Cassidy. Sisters: Rose, Sharon and husband Russ. Great Grandchildren: Aaden and Carter. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. George is preceded in death by his beloved wife Bernice, sister Marion, brother David and grandson Craig.

The family would like to thank Horizon Home Care and Hospice for all their care and concern while George was in hospice.
