Hans Lange

November 2, 1931 — November 26, 2020

Hans A. Lange formerly of Thiensville, WI found eternal peace on November 26th, 2020 at the age of 89. Beloved husband of Dorothy for 67 years, loving father to Susan (Stewart) Anderson, Nancy (Scott) Moser, Diane Balma, and JoAnn (Chris) Pierringer. Further survived by 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, brother Reiner (Ruth) and cousin Karin (Richard) Schroeder. Hans was born in Racine on November 2nd, 1931. Shortly after, his family traveled to Germany to return to his parent's birthplace. Friends and family were fascinated by Hans' memories and stories of survival while growing up in Germany during the war. Here he learned about poverty, hunger and the fragility of life which shaped his compassion and empathy toward those less fortunate for years to come. He even documented his life story in a memoir which he loved to share with those interested. Upon his return to Racine in 1946, Hans began an apprenticeship with the Oster Company in Glendale, WI. Here he continued to work as a tool and die maker for the next 37 years until the plants closing. He continued this work for Reinz Gasket until retiring in 1993. Hans' love of travel created many wonderful memories for his family. He and Dorothy shared many trips and adventures with their lifelong friends, Tom (Marie) Modl, and Jerry (Mary Ann) Callen. He was fortunate enough to travel back to Germany with his mother, and once again with Dorothy to his actual hometown after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Hans was proud to represent his German heritage in later years as president of the Klub der Pommern, as a member of the German American Society and as a director for Germanfest. Hans has been a member of Lumen Christi Catholic Church in Mequon for the last 50 yrs, serving on various committees for the original St. Cecilia Parish. He enjoyed his after Mass coffee klatches with close members of his church family. Hans will be sadly missed by his family and friends, including the wonderful new friends he has made more recently at his current residence at Village Point Commons in Grafton. Hans will be reunited with his departed loved ones, including his parents, his daughter Mary Ann, brother Alfred, sister Hildegard and close friends Tom Modl and Jerry Callen. Hans will be laid to rest on Friday, May 21, 2021. Visitation from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Lumen Christi Catholic Church, 2750 W. Mequon Rd., Mequon, with a Funeral Mass at 12:00 PM. Burial to follow at the Church Cemetery. The Funeral Mass can be viewed live at www.lumenchristiparish.org . Memorials are suggested to the Parkinson's Foundation.
