Henry Canitz

June 28, 1930 — December 14, 2015

Canitz, Henry C. passed away on December 14, 2015 at the age of 85. Beloved husband to Arlene. Loving father to James (Brenda), Carol (Sidney) Gross, Diane (Philip) Bagguley, David (Bonnie), Henry (Cassie), Christopher (Corina), and Lori (Eugene) Fierst. Proud grandfather to 20 Grandchildren and 11 Great-grandchildren. Brother to Ralph and brother-in-law to Jerry (Cindy) Geiger. Visitation at First Baptist Church in West Allis on Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 12:30PM-3:00PM. Memorial service at church on Saturday at 3:00PM. Henry graduated from UW-Milwaukee with a B.S. in Music Education and earned a masters in music education from Vandercook College in Chicago. Throughout his illustrious career he was a music director and educator in the West Allis School District for 26 years. He was founder and director of the Milwaukee Pops Youth Band for 38 years and WA Suburban Concert Band for 21 years. Family, music, fishing, and the Packers were his passions. Henry conducted and taught music for over 50 years. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) or the Henry Canitz Memorial Music Scholarship care of Friends of Music at Nathan Hale High School, 11601 W. Lincoln Ave. West Allis, 53227 are appreciated. As Henry liked to say; Results Not Excuses.
