Holly Marie Lang

Holly Marie Lang, beloved wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully after a courageous fight with cancer on August 9, 2026. Holly was born on December 21, 1948, in West Allis, Wisconsin, to Harold and Marian Tesch.

On December 21, 1968, Holly married the love of her life, Michael “Mike” Lowell Lang. Together they shared 57 years of marriage. Mike was not only her husband, but her best friend. They were the kind of couple who made their love visible—holding hands when they walked, sharing kisses, and showing affection in the simple, everyday ways that made it clear how much they loved one another. Their love was something Holly’s children noticed from a young age and carried with them throughout their lives.

Holly was the heart and matriarch of her family. She was outgoing, loving, caring, stubborn, and incredibly generous. She had a strong, adventurous, and courageous spirit, a heart of gold, and a beautiful soul. She was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back and never think twice about it. When Holly walked into a room, she greeted everyone with a hug. She had a way of making people feel welcomed, cared for, and loved.

Her daughters—Lisa Marie Piette and her husband, Jim; Tina Marie Risch and her husband, Eric; and Jenna Marie Lang and her fiancé, Cale—were the center of her world. Holly made sure her girls knew they were loved, always sending good morning and good night texts that included, “I love you.”

There was even a little family tradition behind their middle names: all three of Holly’s daughters were given the middle name Marie. Holly liked to joke that it made things easier when she needed to call all of her girls at once. And the tradition continued into the next generation with her granddaughters, Amber, Janelle, and Natalie.

Holly adored being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her grandchildren deeply and was always willing to do whatever they wanted—take them somewhere, spend time with them, or simply be there for them. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her tremendous joy.

She was Grandma to Amber Marie Steinman and her husband, Mark, Janelle Marie Thimm and her husband, Justin, Joseph “Joe” Piette, Natalie Eryn Marie Piette, Daniel "Danny" Dornack and his wife, Lauren. She was great-grandma to Riley, Langston, Max, Parker, and Sloane.

Holly also treasured her family beyond her immediate household. She is survived by her brother, Gary Tesch, and his wife, Candace “Candy,” as well as her brother-in-law, Paul Lang, and his significant other, Mary. Family was always important to Holly, and she loved being surrounded by the people she cared about.

Holly had a special love for her dog, Penny, and for the simple pleasures that brought people together. She loved camping with her family, sitting around a campfire, making pudgy pies, and simply being together. Music was always part of her life, especially when she was cleaning the house, when she would often hum along.

And there was no love quite like her love of Elvis Presley. Holly owned seemingly everything Elvis, and she even went to Graceland a couple of times. Even Mike, who never shared Holly’s Elvis obsession, came away from the experience with a newfound appreciation for the King.

Holly was also a devoted Milwaukee Brewers fan and loved watching a good Brewers game. She loved Christmas, too, and had a habit of going completely over the top with gifts. Giving brought her joy, and she loved seeing the happiness it brought to others.

Holly believed there was good in everyone. One of the life lessons she shared most often was, “There’s good in everyone… you just have to find it.” She had an incredible ability to see the positive in any situation and could find something good in people no matter who they were or where they came from. She could relate to people from all walks of life and made them feel accepted and valued.

Holly was someone who was always present and always showed up for others, especially when they needed her most—even when they didn't yet realize they needed her. Somehow, Holly seemed to know. When her children were young, she would simply hold them on her lap and make them feel safe. As they grew older, her hugs and words of comfort remained. She never stopped giving of herself to the people she loved.

Holly had a special way of saying things and expressing herself, and those who knew her best learned to understand her perfectly. She could give “the look”—the one that told her children exactly what she wanted them to do. No explanation was necessary. You simply did it.

Even through the pain of cancer, Holly remained Holly. Her illness never changed the person she was at heart. Her strong and courageous spirit never left her. She continued to love people, help people, and care deeply for those around her for as long as she could. Cancer may have taken away some of what her body could do, but it never took away who she was.

Holly leaves behind a lifetime of love, countless memories, and a family who will carry her with them forever. Her family finds comfort knowing that she is now reunited with family and friends who went before her, especially her precious great-grandson, Parker, whom she can finally hold in her arms. We can almost hear Holly saying “mine” as she holds him close and doesn't let anyone take him from her.

Holly’s love will continue through the family she built, the people she cared for, and the many lives she touched. Her unconditional love, her beautiful soul, and the good she saw in others will live on in everyone fortunate enough to have known her.

And for her daughters, there will always be one last conversation that says everything:

“I love you.”

“I love you more.”

“That’s not possible.”

But somehow, Holly would have found a way to prove she was right.
