Irene Frigo

Irene A. Frigo (nee Grambort) Brookfield- Found peaceful rest on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. She was born to Hubert and Adele Grambort in Colby, WI on November 3, 1934. She graduated from Ondossagon High School in Ashland, WI, where she participated in band, winning state honors in the clarinet and served as editor of the school newspaper. She graduated in 1957 from the St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Marshfield, WI and was a Registered Nurse. Irene was married to Joseph G. Frigo on September 3, 1960, in Ashland, WI. She had 4 children; Fred, Louis (Marian Obrien-Frigo), Julie and Jan (Kevin McCabe); 8 grandchildren; Kate (Sean) Drury, Bill Frigo, Joe (Jessica) Frigo, Elizabeth (Peter) Monaco, Joe Obrien, Maggie (Derek) Enlund, Juliana McCabe and John McCabe; and many great-grandchildren. Irene had 4 sisters: Rita (Bobby) Nelson, Jacqui Arganbright, Nancy (Bill) McClellan, and Ruth Grambort; and one brother, Larry (Mari Jo). During her nursing career, Irene worked at many healthcare facilities, including St. Mary's Hospital (Milwaukee, WI), Sioux Valley Hospital (Sioux Falls, SD) and Bellin Hospital (Green Bay, WI). In her spare time, Irene enjoyed playing cards, sewing, knitting, doing crossword puzzles, baking and gardening. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Brookfield, WI at 10:30am on Monday, January 15, 2024. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass in the church starting at 9am.
