Jacquelyn Jones

November 16, 1938 — December 25, 2024

Jacquelyn Morse Jones, 86, of Milwaukee, WI was born on November 16, 1938, in Baldwin, LA, to Leonia Mercedes (Bruno) Morse and Howard Taft Morse, Sr. Jackie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. As a teenager, she became a secretary at a Methodist church, where she managed their office and supported staff and pastors administratively. Jackie received her formal education from the Louisiana Public School System. After graduating valedictorian from Sumpter Williams High School (Morgan City, LA), she enlisted in the US Armed Forces, where she attended the US Army Quartermaster Center and School (Fort Sam Houston, TX). While stationed in Fort Knox, KY, she met fellow soldier, William "Bill" Jones, and after his relentless pursuit, they embarked on "Mission: Happily, Ever After", and married on June 29, 1960, in Waukegan, IL. Jackie was honorably discharged from the army after 4 years of service, and to their union, 4 children were born. After settling in Milwaukee, WI, Jackie was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Some of her favorite pastimes were cooking Cajun classics for family and friends (her gumbo recipe was highly sought after), sewing, shopping, gardening, listening to classic jazz music, and attending/hosting social gatherings. Known for her beauty, grace, poise, and modesty, she possessed a First Lady-like presence; contrarily, her no-nonsense demeanor and quick-witted personality earned her the nickname of "Sassy Jackie", which she proudly owned. Prior to retiring as a homemaker, Jackie was employed by First Wisconsin National Bank (formerly FirstStar Bank, now US Bank). After a brief hospital stay and complications caused by dementia, Jackie peacefully entered eternal rest on Christmas Day 2024. She leaves to cherish her memories: daughters, LaTonya Jones and Alicia Jones; sons, Troy Jones and Quincy Jones; grandchildren, Brittany Meininger, Tahlia Jones, Jaimie Jones, JaQuane Jones, Evan Jones, Bria Jones, Elijah Jones, and Bryson Jones (all of Milwaukee, WI); sisters, Carol Hurst (Houston, TX), Brenda Morse (Morgan City, LA), and Audrey Morse (Morgan City, LA); and Godson, Jerome Jackson (Aurora, IL). She is further survived by 7 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and close friends. Jackie is preceded in death by her husband, William C. Jones; mother, Leonia Mercedes (Morse) Bruno; father, Howard Taft Morse, Sr.; brothers, Pastor Howard B. Morse, Jr., Pastor Stephen Morse, Everette "Eppie" Morse, and John Morse, as well as both of her maternal and paternal grandparents. Jackie was lovingly cared for in her final days by Ms. Raven Cartagena (Milwaukee, WI), as well as the dedicated team at Commonheart Home Health and Hospice (Waukesha, WI), to whom the Jones family is deeply grateful for. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation in Jackie's memory be made to the Dementia Society of America.
